Frida and Glinda
Frida and Glida were rescued from a CAFO (confined animal feeding operation). Frida and Glinda were born a month apart and were both born as freemartins (born sterile therefore has no use to the dairy industry). Because they are unable to reproduce, they were considered not valuable to the dairy industry and were going to be sent to auction. But Frida and Glinda were destined for a different life! The farmhand who helped care for them wanted to give them a chance and through the help of Bucky's Bull Rescue they were brought to Farleys Farm to live out their lives. Now they spend their days running around, hanging out with their cat friends, getting lots of pets, and nibbling on fresh greens.

Hens
Dolly, Cassie Nan, Stella, Rachel, Freida, Millie, Blanche, Francine, Maude, Priscilla, Thelma, Pamona, Chicken Little, Penny, Panda, Leah
Many of the hens living at Farleys Farm were rescued from an industrial egg farm. Sanctuaries have proven that chickens can live into the teens; but the system has them being shipped to slaughter by 1-2 years of age because their egg production is no longer profitable. If they aren’t laying an egg a day they are considered a waste of resources. Not here! At the sanctuary every soul that passes through is recognized as the individual they are and treated accordingly. Chickens are so amazing. The hens at Farleys Farm love looking for bugs in the grass, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, and warming their feathers in the sun.

Roosters
Baja Blast, Billy, Bettlejuice, Oreo, Stevie Wonder, Midnight
Many of the roosters at Farleys Farm were dumped and found places they had no chance of surviving in. Dumping animals is not only cruel but also illegal. These roosters were bred into existence and then dumped when they are no longer useful and left to starve or be killed by a predator. Luckily for these guys, they were welcomed to a life of protection and freedom to be themselves at Farleys Farm. Some of the roosters were integrated into the flock of hens and some of them enjoy their own area filled with lots of enrichment.

Turkeys
Appalachia, Eileen, Sunshine, Rainbow, Prism, Archie, Miracle
5 Broad Breasted turkeys turned up in a kind local(ish) gentleman’s yard and he recognized their sweet nature. He knew they wouldn't be able to survive long on their own since domesticated turkeys are not equipped to protect themselves from wild predators of the night. They were eventually brought to Farleys Farm as a safehaven to live out their lives. Because of the location they turned up, and the fact that they are broad breasted turkeys, they very likely somehow escaped an industrial turkey farm or fell from a truck. They are perfect angels and sweet as pie. They love greeting everyone they meet, eating fresh produce, and laying down to get pets from anyone willing.

Bunnies
Cupcake and Furball
Our rabbit residents, Cupcake and Furball, joined the sanctuary at the start of 2023, the chinese new year of the water rabbit! Cupcake and Furball were welcome to the sanctuary when their human lost their home due to financial struggle. Cupcake and Furball have access to an indoor area as well as an outdoor run where they can enjoy the seasons and coexist peaceful with the sanctuary cats. They love snuggling with one another, and eating their nightly treat!

Cats
June, Fern, Cloud, Goldie, Baby Boy, Daisy, Eclipse, Chicken 1, Chicken 2, Chicken 3
Farley’s Farm has a small adoption program for cats. Please check out our adoptable animals on Petfinder if you are interested in adopting!
Our resident cats are cats who have struggled to find homes due to health or behavioral issues (chronic viral infections, refusal to use litter box due to permanent damage from declawing, etc). The cats who live at Farleys Farm enjoy their days lounging on the catio, playing with toys, taking naps by the wood stove, and getting lots of love from everyone they meet.

Rats
Horizon, Spud, French Fry, Hashbrown, Tator Tot
Many of the resident rats at Farleys Farm were rescued from a laboratory. They were isolated (very very stressful for rats, they need companionship) and then were used to test the cognitive impact of biochemical substances. Some had food witheld in order to make them more food motivated. The general procedure when the experiments are done is euthanasia. But not for these babies!!!! They made it out. And they will now get to experience all the goodness of life. Treats, friendship, hammock snuggles, exercise, mental stimulation, relaxation, etc at Farleys Farm.

Ducks
Larry, Coconut, Star, Ducky
With the popularity of farm stores selling chicks, there has also been an influx of dumped domesticated birds, such as ducks. It is a common misconception that domesticated ducks can survive like wild ducks. They can’t! Ducks require food, shelter, access to veterinary care, an ability to express their natural behaviors, and love. We provide all of these at the sanctuary!

Fish & Sal
Sal, Wanda, Mr Whiskers, Jaws, Pumpkin, Slim, Blue, Nessie, Dory
Fish have a tendency to be highly abused due to the idea that they are easily “replaceable”. At Farley’s Farm, we honor the individuals and have several aquatic environments complete with life plants, enrichment, and appropriate lighting to hour our fish friends. All of our fish have been surrendered by people who no longer are able to care for them. One of our plecostemous fish, Wanda, was found left in a fish tank with very little water next to a dumpster.
