About Farley's Farm Sanctuary

Welcome to Farley’s Farm Sanctuary, a vegan-run grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal sanctuary. Our sanctuary is located on 5 acres of land in Swanton, OH.

Farley's Farm Sanctuary, founded in February 2022, is a rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary for domesticated animals whose mission is to educate, advocate, and provide lifelong care to our residents. Farley’s Farm is named after Farley, our beloved rescued black lab who made her transition in October, 2024, at almost 17 years of age. We honor the diversity of life on Earth through sharing the sanctuary space with a variety of species of animals including chickens, ducks, turkeys, cows, rabbits, cats, rats, reptiles, and a variety of fishes.  We aim to educate our community as a whole about systemic issues which result in animal exploitation and suffering.

When appropriate, we work diligently to rehabilitate and find loving forever homes for animals, ensuring they transition to safe and caring families. Additionally, we sponsor spay/neuter expenses for community cats and also provide animal food and basic care needs to low income community members. We believe in keeping loved animals in their homes! Thank you for being a part of our journey!

Meet Farley

Farley was rescued from a backyard breeder/animal hoarder at almost a year of age in winter of 2008. Because of her early life experiences, throughout her life Farley expressed aggression towards other dogs and also experienced extreme separation anxiety which in turn, created a beautiful community of extremely special and loving people around her that truly loved and appreciated her. Farley gave Melanie the final push and motivation to begin to seek land to start the sanctuary she had always dreamed of in order to give Farley both freedom and safety in her senior years. In January, 2021, they found it! We love to know that even though Farley has now passed on, her legacy is continuing to create a community and sanctuary for some of the most highly abused nonhuman animal species on the planet.
